Barker Reports 3.8 g/t Gold over 22.45 Metres at Frank Creek

Prince George, B.C., April 13, 2012 -- Barker Minerals Ltd. ("BML" on TSX/V) (the "Company") is pleased to report further results on the near surface gold discovery on its 100% owned Frank Creek volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS)/Gold project announced on February 24 2012. (BM-12-201) Infill sampling and analysis on drill hole FC11-03 identified a significant 22.45 metre wide zone from 13.0 metres to 35.45 metres which assayed 3.8 grams per ton (g/t) gold (0.11 oz/t). Within this zone concentrations of 4.95 g/t gold (0.14 oz/t) occurred over 14.95 metres from 13.0 metres to 27.95 metres. Narrow higher grade intervals within the 22.45 metres include *41.4 g/t gold over 0.15 metres (1.20 oz/t) between 26.5 metres -- 26.65 metres.

Individual assays between 13.0 metres -- 35.14 metres can be viewed on the following link. (FC11-03 Gold Results) The project is located in the Cariboo Mining District of British Columbia approximately 77 km northeast of Williams Lake B.C. and hosts excellent access and infrastructure. Drill hole FC11-03 was drilled across the stratigraphic horizon with true width and gold grades yet to be determined by follow up drilling of the gold enriched zone further across the stratigraphy, along strike and at depth.

The new discovery indicates the potential exists for an economic gold deposit at Frank Creek which is also supported by historic placer gold found within 500 metres of the new discovery, a significant untested gold geochemical anomaly between the discovery area and the placer workings, favorable geology and alteration, five historic drill holes within 800 metres of FC11-03 intersected broad zones of highly anomalous gold and the presence of favorable geochemical associations or gold pathfinder minerals.

The Company is planning to follow up on this exciting new gold discovery in the 2012 field season.

The drill core was logged and sampled with the mineralized sections cut in half and sent to AGAT Labs in Burnaby B.C. All samples reported in this news release were analyzed by the Aqua Regia ICP-MS method and for gold by fire assay method with a gravimetric finish. Gold values reported are uncut.

*BM-12-201 reported that in drill hole FC11-03 26.4 g/t gold occurred over the 0.15 metre intercept from 26.5 metres -- 26.65 metres by regular fire assay method. For analysis method uniformity the same 0.15 metre sample was re-analyzed by fire assay method with a gravimetric finish which returned 41.4 g/t gold.
